158.799 RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT 1. Read a model paper

This assignment is done individually. The goal is to read a research paper that connects some construct to another.

Using the Massey Library online resources, e.g. the ACM Digital Library, select a full research paper that you like, from a recognized IT journal or conference, preferably one that you think could be a good model for the sort of research you plan to do in your project.

If not sure it is a good research paper, check with your lecturer.

Read it carefully and answer the following questions clearly, in a single page or less (not counting the abstract), using the following headings:

1. Reference. Give the Title, Abstract and Reference (in APA format) of the paper (copy the first two from the paper)

2. Topic. What is/are the main topic or dependent variable/construct? Give its:

a. Name

b. Definition

c. The possible values it can take.

d. Why it is important

3. What is/are the main proposed causal or independent variable/construct? Give its:

a. Name

b. Definition

c. The possible values it can take.

d. Why it could affect the topic construct

4. What was the main conclusion of the paper? State it using the above variable/constructs.

Deliverable Submit in class on the due date:

1. A printed report, of about one page or so.

2. A printed full copy of the paper you referenced.

3. Give a 1-3 slide presentation of the above and answer any questions
